Ethan lay on his back and looked up into the clear blue sky. It reminded him of the time he used to sit with his father on their porch, looking up at the night sky, staring at the stars above. Simpler times. Before the Black Hoods came for his father. Calling him a deviant they had dragged him into the street and beaten him while his mother screamed. They threw his father into an armoured car and took him away. Ethan never saw him again.
But he never forgot what his father had told him. “Son, it takes just one good man to change the world.”
The crowds gathered below in the street began to stir. He could hear the Black Hoods commanding them to cheer, which told him the motorcade was approaching. Ethan rolled onto his stomach and moved to the edge of the building. He lifted the rifle too his shoulder. Held his breath and took aim. As he pulled the trigger, he prayed his father was right.
